Since the lockdown all our Trampers have been busier than ever. Forestry England Ranger, Nathan Fox, at Whinlatter says they “could have hired the Tramper five times over” this spring. We are super pleased therefore that The Galloping Horse, a community pub at High Harrington, has donated us a Tramper, that we could place at Whinlatter to help even more visitors enjoy the forest!
Julia met with Nathan and Craig Lowery, the director of Osprey Management Group, which owns The Galloping Horse, at Whinlatter, as the second Tramper was formally handed over to Lake District Mobility. Even the owner of Osprey Management Group, Ron Thompson, was able to join us by video all the way from USA to celebrate. Wuky, Julia’s grandfather-in-law, the inspiration for Lake District Mobility and a seasoned Tramper adventurer took it on its first spin. Wuky is dearly regarded by the Galloping Horse team, so we are delighted that the new Tramper at our first ever partner site is named after him!
The two Trampers at Whinlatter are available to book for your adventures through the visitor centre. All we can say is Thank You, Ron, Osprey Management Group and well-done Nathan and the team at Whinlatter for making this amazing place even more accessible!
